Hello Folks
A quick Bio, I'm the caretaker and big brother to a quadriplegic sister born with Cerebral Palsy. We've just about run out of our savings and it's time to figure something out for income. Not that I haven't been trying. I recently discovered a legitimate work from home opportunity that would fit the bill since I am unable to leave the house without her to find or maintain employment.
I mention this to hopefully spark as convoluted a solution from your expertise as necessary to reach our goal.
What I need is reliable 10mbps download and 5mbps up, no satellite, no wireless, and I do need to be connected to modem or router with Ethernet cable. Employers words.
CenturyLink came out to our home and the guy was great, I think he went through every box on our street trying to get us up and running. He said we are 9000' and he just could not get the link.
From what I understand, my neighbor is 1500' closer to the CO/RT and does have 12mbps DSL. We are both on a road at the edge of town, the only cable in or out of the area are 2 buried phone cables that run past her home, on to mine and ends a few miles up the road.
I currently have WISP service but as I said, that's not acceptable to the employer. No cable TV available in the area either.
What can I do? Is there a way CenturyLink can help, or adapt something? Can I get DSL service at the neighbor and extend it by making my own DSL loop on a dry pair 1500' to our home?
Unrelated to CenturyLink, could I create an ISP in the house and use my WISP as backbone, invisible to the employer(far fetched)?
Any thoughts?
Thanks for your time.
