I've noticed I have a very low (6db, former Qwest minimum I think) downstream SNR on my line. I've never bothered checking my line stats before as I've never had a problem that wasn't caused by congestion in other parts of CenturyLink's network, usually peering links with Level3.net. I pay for 12mbps, modem is trained at 15/.8 and has pretty reliably delivered 11-12mbps down since I upgraded.
Is it worth trying to figure out what's responsible for my low SNR at this point, or should I wait until/if it becomes a problem? I'm currently on a temporary line whilst in the process of having the demarc moved, so I can't do much troubleshooting until the new box is in. The wiring under my house is a bit of a mess and could be the culprit, but I've also been told the copper in this area is very old and not particularly good. I think I'm pretty close to the DSLAM, attenuation is listed at 22/9 and the loop length is 2500 feet; my SNR should almost certainly be higher, but if it ain't broke...
edit: so the only minor complaint I could really list is that my upload caps at around .75 mbps, which is a bit lower than the 896 Kbps I'm supposed to get... but my upstream SNR is a lot higher than downstream at 21db.
double edit: Just noticed the modem is listing a lot of near end FEC corrections; over 20,000 in the 18 hours since I reset it. I haven't noticed any problems with stability in this time, but I'm interleaved.
