We've been in our new home for about three months. Centurylink is our only option for service and it's been extremely unstable. I travel a decent amount and it seems like we have an issue almost every time I'm out of town and the family needs service!
Configuration:
Actiontec C1000a modem (bridge mode) -- third one
ASUS RT-AC3100 router
When we have an outage, CL typically says everything on their end of the line looks just fine. I can disable/enable the WAN interface on the router and it will come back online immediately. Power cycling the modem works as well.
I spent 40 minutes with tech support from India today and it was an absolute joke. The tech support rep literally added no value outside telling me to return the DSL modem to factory state. I finally asked for a supervisor... then listened to hold music for 30 minutes before being disconnected.
I took the modem out of bridge mode today. If nothing else that will make it easier to troubleshoot when there is a problem.
Any troubleshooting or other ideas? I'm done working with Centurylink tech support as they add not value and take a ton of time in the process.
