I've got centurylink's gig speed here in Arizona, but the downstream speed isn't up to par:
Anybody know how I might resolve this? I'm using some enterprise grade equipment, so I know it's not a CPU limited issue.
I've calculated the theoretical bandwidth limit for a gigabit connection is 961mbit/s due to control protocol overhead, with the practical limit being 10-20mbit/s slower than that due to layer 1 overhead (for e.g. preambles, backoff, etc, depending on the medium used.)
That would only explain why I'm seeing 930mbit upstream though; I don't understand why I'm consistently getting less than 750mbit downstream.
