I've been pretty happy with my Q1000 until recently. My work laptop and my wife's new iPad Air 2 don't worth with DHCP. I considered trying to get one of the fancy new Technicolor routers but they're hard to come by.
Instead, I thought I'd use bridging. I followed these instructions (http://www.scottrmcclure.com/centurylink/), down to buying the same TP-Link router he's using. However, it's not working out. The router is unable to bring up the WAN connection & throws an error message of:
Timeout waiting for PADO packets
Unable to complete PPPoE Discovery
I'd seen earlier instructions that suggested that there's a time limit on authN requests. So I powered everything down for 15 minutes and tried again to no avail.
I know I have the correct PPP credentials as switching back to a router requires me to re-enter them. I wouldn't be able to post this if I didn't have them right.
What confuses me is that I'm still able to get into the Q1000 via the web interface even when it's in bridge mode. Is that normal, or does that indicate that I'm not correctly setting the modem into bridge mode?
