I've had this problem for a good while and have tried a number of different things:
Changed CAT5E cable
Changed LAN port used on modem (ZyXEL PK5001Z)
Rebooting computer
Rebooting Modem
Of the above rebooting the modem works best. The other computers don't have this problem. The modem is in my office at home and the CAT5E cable plugs directly into the modem. The computer having the issue is the one in my office and the one I use most. Another computer less than a foot away which I use to upload my weather data to various weather sites has no issues with connectivity and is the reason I have the weather station connected to it. It seldom gets rebooted, maybe once every month or two unless there is a major Windows update requiring a reboot. All computers, 4 desktops and 1 laptop, are running MS Windows 7 Pro with all being 64 bit less one desktop system which is 32 bit. None of the others have this issue and most run 24/7 especially the observatory and office computers.
The only thing different on the office computer is possibly that I did, a good while back, run an DrTCP to try and see if it would fix this issue. Unfortunately it didn't. As best as I know the settings are back to default. However I can't say that for sure. I have even tried using a separate Network card installed in a free PCI slot that didn't do any better as well as a wireless card. Both had the same issue. I'm connected to the LAN port on my ASUS P8Z68-V PRO motherboard which is a 10/100/1000 connection. Drivers are all up to date. Connection-specific DNS Suffix: PK5001Z
Description: Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection
All properties except the physical address and IPv4 addresses are the same as the other systems.
So I'm at an impasse on where to look further or additional steps to take. Any suggestions would be a real help.
Thanks,
Steve
