Well I made the switch from Comcast to CL because my promos kept expiring and my internet kept getting bumped down and prices bumped up all the while I kept getting emails about new promos I was always qualified for but they refused to give them to me. . . Then Comcast LIED and said I had to pay a $40 termination fee because I was in a contract when I very clearly wasnt.
Now I bought the 40mb VDSL2 service from CenturyLink and it was ok at first. The modem is crap and wireless seems to stop working randomly, so I tried to use it as a modem only and use my existing wireless router but couldnt figure it out (maybe some help on that?). . . I was getting a 24/4 connection which was ok. Well I called and asked how my line was and if I was ever going to get close to what I was paying for, so they ran a few tests and said I was getting a bad signal and they would send a tech out to inspect it.
Well the tech came out first thing this morning even when the appointment was set for AFTER 4PM so I could be there and ask some questions. He said I was getting an unstable signal because Im too far away from the node and he had to lock me in at 20mb. . . ok, I guess. . . But then I decided to run a speed test, 70ping 10mb/s down and .70 up. . . Um no! I rebooted the modem and tried another test, 110ping 12mb down .72 up. . . Just freaking great, all that time and effort for what? I was expecting decent speed but ended up with your typical DSL speed with a premium price tag. . . Comcast was always a rock solid 8-10 ping 20 down 7 up. I was thinking the fiber optic was going to net me better speed than my old house way out in the sticks. . . .
My wife watches her TV on the net (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) I play video games and sometimes host a server for others to play on, but with these speeds thats not going to happen.
